Southampton is working with nine other European cities over the next three years in the five million euro 'Cities in Balance' project. This aims to develop services and projects that meet the needs of the ageing population.
Work taking place in Southampton includes:
The Southampton inter-generational network (SIGN)
A seniors information project
A home safety coordination project
A development worker for the seniors council
A project on volunteering and time-banking
Cities in Balance is an opportunity to learn from other cities and promote Southampton at a European level. Southampton will host the final conference in 2011.
